He did it!

Damon peed on the potty tonight! He's been sitting on his potty chair for several days now with no luck, but tonight while I was getting the boys ready for a bath, he sat down and did it. (Probably because I wasn't watching. He's probably one of those nervous pee-ers, you know the kind that can't do it if someone's watching.) Anyway, we celebrated a lot and clapped and said "Woohoo Damon!" and gave hi 5's. He was so happy. Then I got the pleasure of cleaning out the potty chair. Talk to you all later.

I happened on your blog through Paul Cardall. Congrats on the celebrations of day to day living with your wonderful Damon!
I have a 4 yr old daughter with HLHS and often find myself reading about others experiences and feeling ungrateful for the life that God has granted us.
I am really touched (to tears streaming down and even to sharing with my husband) by your post in March about 'the reality' of living with HLHS.
I am wondering if you will give me permission to copy it to my journal as a poignant reminder. Your honesty supersedes mine - although I want to get there. I love it. I have had to 'put on a good face' for a lot of my life and am really working at finding my true voice in my personal journal so that posterity can see the real me. It won't be shared publicly - just in my personal journal.
Thank you.

Oh, thank God for your words Sarah that helped this young mother with her life with HLHS. I told you that you were chosen to be Damon's mother for a reason. You have the faith to help others, as those who have helped you were chosen also. Every accomplishment that Damon makes as well as the other children make seem to be extra special since there were no guarantees that they would and still do survive. Thank you God for these accomplishments. And thank you for Summer, who has reached out to Sarah so that she can have another blessed life long friend to share with. M
