It's almost that time

for school to start. I can't believe the summer has gone so quickly. We've been enjoying it for the most part, going swimming, playing outside on the boys' new swing set and painting the house. We'll put pictures up of that as soon as we're done. It's looking great!

Speaking of school, Myles hasn't really talked a lot about it yet, but Damon is ready! He packs up his things all the time and says he's off to school. I think if he could open the door, he would probably just go right on outside and wait for the bus. He's very excited about the idea of him going to school. Myles isn't the only one going to school this fall either. I'm taking an online class at a local college to work toward my goal of going to nursing school. I'm also taking a class to get certified as a Nurse's Aid. So I'll be busy with homework right along side Myles.

Damon has a dr appt next week so I'll put an update after that, and hopefully I'll have time very soon to upload some funny videos I recently took of him. Talk to you all later.

It happened...

One life-long issue that Damon will deal with as he gets older is that he will get tired out faster than most people because of his heart condition. He has shown signs before, like he's panting after walking across the room quickly, but he's never really gotten so tired out that he needed to rest. Dr Tong has told me a few times that at this age, when Damon feels like he has over-exerted himself he will slow down and rest. I didn't really believe him, but today it happened.

We went swimming and he was having a blast. He was jumping to me from the side of the pool and "swimming" all by himself. (Really he was just walking through neck-deep water without holding on to me.) He wouldn't let me hold his hand or his waist and he kept telling me "mommy don't hep me." After doing this for quite awhile I let him go under so he could practice holding his breath and when he came back up he sputtered and coughed for a minute (which is totally normal) and then he wanted to go to our towels. We went over there and he had me wrap him up in his towel then he layed down by himself for about 10-15 minutes. After he rested he was ready to go again, and even went down the water slide twice. So I guess Dr Tong was right after all. I never thought a two year old would have the self discipline to pace himself, but he sure enough did.

Please keep his little buddy Hayden in your prayers. He had an appt w/ his cardio dr last week and they saw something that concerned them. His mom is supposed to call back in two weeks to see what they think should be done.

Talk to you all later.
